Psychodrama Skills Group — Series 1 of 2
A closed group with four back to back weekly sessions for adults, building the foundational skills needed to participate in psychodrama.
Psychodrama is a method that uses action rather than discussion. Instead of describing a situation from your chair, you set it up in the room and enact it — with other group members standing in for the people, parts, or forces involved. Seeing something externalized and stepping into it tends to surface material that talking about it does not.
A session moves through three phases: a warm-up that helps the group arrive and identifies what's alive in the room, an action phase where one or more scenes are enacted, and sharing, where members speak to what came up for them personally.
The three skills
Series 1 is built around learning these three core skills.
Who it's for
Adults 21+ experiencing anxiety, social anxiety, depression, grief, or trauma-related symptoms — or simply feeling stuck or frozen. You don't need acting experience, a prepared story, or any prior exposure to psychodrama.
Who it isn't for
This group isn't appropriate for someone currently in acute crisis, or for anyone who can't commit to attending all four sessions.
Why it's closed
The same members meet all four weeks — no one joins mid-series. Depth in group work depends on knowing who's in the room and building familiarity and safety with them. This is what makes it possible to go anywhere real. Attendance at all four sessions is expected.
Confidentiality
What members share stays in the group. This is agreed to in the first session.
Series 2 of 2 will follow later this fall, moving from skill-building into full psychodramas with extended scenes directed from start to finish, with one member's work as the focus at a time. Series 1 stands on its own; continuing is optional.
